My first real race!
Saturday, May 12, 2012 Magellan Chicago Spring Half
My sister-in-law, Corinne, ran a personal record! She is awesome!
I felt great through mile 7 and then hit a wall that I couldn't get past and bad ankle/top of the foot pain as well as rocks in my shoe. It was pouring rain and windy and chilly. BUT I crossed the finish line running (well slow jogging) and received my first finisher's medal and dissolved into tears of accomplishment and some pain. I must say that finishing near the end (I was 1438 out of 1486) and crossing the line solo gives them time to look up your name and so I heard, "Here comes Anya, way to go!" from the announcer as I crossed the finish line. :-)
I'm so glad I did it even though it kicked my butt!

Goodbye binky!
On Sunday night (May 6), the binky fairy came and took all of Bea's pacifiers to give to babies who needed them. It was a rough night! Though she enjoyed playing with her toys. (The binky fairy came at 9pm in an effort to get Bea to stop screaming!)
We had 3 tantrums on the first day and I spent 3 nights on the girls floor holding Bea's hand because she said she was sad and missed her binky.
But, we are nearly 2 weeks later and she is doing well. It takes her longer to fall asleep at night and for naps and sometimes it is harder to calm her down, but it could have been so much worse. My baby is growing up!
Pictures of her last day with a binky: playing with her new toys at 10pm that night; showing us "no binky!"

My last week...
Fabulous day off thanks to Tom on Friday, April 27: annual checkup, haircut, lunch, manicure, participatory budgeting vote in our ward, dinner. Not the best photos, but you get the point. It was fantastic!
On Saturday, I ran my first solo 9-miler and we had a good friend over for lunch. It had been much too long. He grilled for us and the girls loved him. Thanks, Barry! Colleen still wants more "Barry meat"!
On Sunday, Colleen and I went to see Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. It was fun (though I admit to finding it annoying, too...guess I'm now the parent, not the kid!) We also had front row seats.
Last night was the Chicago Endurance Sports (CES) Spring Training Party. It was fun to see people I've spent the last 12 weeks with in something other than running clothes.

A day in the life.
Me: "Bea. What do you want for lunch?
Bea: "Dwit."
Me: "A sandwich?"
Bea: "Yes."
Me: "What kind of sandwich?"
Bea: "Yes."
Me: "A peanut butter and jelly sandwich?"
Bea: "No."
Me: "Just peanut butter?"
Bea: "No."
Me: "Cheese sandwich?"
Bea: "No."
Me: "What do you want on your sandwich?"
Bea: "Nothing."
Me: "You just want a piece of bread?"
Bea: "Yes."
